Hadiya Bhuta – The Thirst for Blood

Hadiya Bhuta – The Thirst for Blood

📖 Hadiya Bhuta – The Thirst for Blood”

Deep within the dense jungles of Jharkhand, a horrifying spirit still breathes — a malevolent entity that hides in traditional rice beer (hadiya), enters the body, and turns its victim into a bloodthirsty, insane vessel of destruction.

---Hadiya Bhuta – The Thirst for Blood

It’s 1912. Chilling nights. The dead silence beneath sal trees. And a poor woodcutter named Bulaki Munda. Every evening, he drinks hadiya — unaware that each sip welcomes Hadiya Bhuta, the cursed soul of an ancient tribal king who once drugged his followers, sacrificed them alive beneath the sal tree, and sealed his soul in a clay pot of liquor.

Soon, bodies begin to appear — drained of blood, eyes wide open in terror, faces frozen in horror — all found near spilled hadiya pots.
This spirit doesn’t just kill. It watches. It waits. It drinks blood.

👁️ A haunted ritual, ancient chants, a cursed tree that bleeds, buried skeletons, and the final battle to trap the spirit beneath the soil…
This is not folklore. This is a damned history that keeps repeating itself.

Munda Tribe – “Hadiya Bhuta”

Story Title: Hadiya Bhuta: The Thirst for Blood

📜 Historical Background & Scriptural Reference:

The spirit known as Hadiya Bhuta is mentioned in a rare manuscript titled "Tribal Beliefs and Spiritual Traditions of the Munda People", compiled by Dr. Ramprasad Lohra in the year 1889. The documentation was gathered from the Kolebira region of Ranchi. This work, detailing various evil spirits of the Munda culture, is preserved in the Bihar Museum of Folk Literature, located in Patna.

Part 1: The First Sip from the Shadows

Setting: The village of Rakhmati, Jharkhand
Year: 1912

At the edge of the village stood a crumbling mud house, home to Bulaki Munda, his wife Sona Devi, and their two children. Bulaki worked in the forest cutting wood and returned each evening to drink Hadiya—a traditional rice beer sacred to the Munda people.

But for the past few months, every time he drank the hadiya, something terrifying happened. His eyes rolled back, his body trembled violently, and at night, he wandered alone into the forest. He would return the next morning—his hands bloodied, clothes muddied, and a strange, sinister smile on his face.

Animals began dying mysteriously—chickens, goats… then one day, the body of a young girl named Champa was found deep in the forest. Her body was shriveled as if all her blood had been drained. Next to her lay a clay pot full of hadiya.

The village elder and exorcist, Ojha Sugan Lohra, warned:

“This is the Hadiya Bhuta—a malevolent spirit that enters the body through fermented liquor. It first takes control of the mind, then turns the soul into something bloodthirsty.”

A Deepening Mystery…

Sona Devi once secretly followed her husband into the forest. She watched as he placed the clay pot beneath an ancient sal tree and muttered strange incantations. His body shook violently, his eyes turned pitch black, and he screamed:

“Give me life through liquor, and I shall return freshness... the freshness of blood!”

Near him was a shallow grave filled with human bones...

Part 2: The Revelation of Hadiya Bhuta

Location: The same sal tree in the Rakhmati forest
Year: Late 1912

Ojha Sugan Lohra revealed the spirit’s origin—it belonged to King Luben Munda, a tribal ruler from the 1700s who would drug his followers with hadiya and offer them as live sacrifices beneath the sal tree. When the British invaded, Luben was killed, but his soul remained trapped inside the hadiya pot. Now, it possesses anyone who drinks too deeply and loses themselves to intoxication.

Blood-soaked Horror

  • Five more villagers died—all known drunkards.

  • Their eyes were wide open, their tongues stuck out, and expressions frozen in terror.

  • One night, Bulaki tried to kill his own children—but Sona Devi called the Ojha just in time.

The Final Battle at the Sal Tree
https://horrorstory1600.blogspot.com

Ojha prepared for a "Bhuta-Bandh" ritual to trap the spirit—using seven kinds of rice, three sacrifices (a black rooster, a goat, and a dog), and ancient Asur mantras.

When Bulaki arrived under the tree, he was fully possessed. He was no longer himself—he had become King Luben. His voice grew thunderous, red streaks lit up his skin, and his eyes burned like fire.

Ojha began chanting, and the hadiya pot caught fire on its own. The spirit howled:

“Give me blood... return my sacrifice!”

Blood began dripping from the sal tree, the ground trembled, and then—all fell silent.

Bulaki lay unconscious. When he awoke, he was alive—but mentally broken. He was sent to an asylum where he remained for the rest of his life.

📚 Conclusion & Symbolism

Hadiya Bhuta is more than a ghost—it is a cursed cycle of addiction, greed, and ancient rituals that still haunt modern societies today.
