## 🩸 **PART 1: The Witch’s Three Nights**
18th-century Ukraine. In a remote village surrounded by fields and forests stands an old stone monastery, seemingly rooted in fear itself.
The story begins with three seminary students from Kyiv — **Khoma Brut**, **Khalyava**, and **Tiberiy** — sent out to rural areas for their summer break.
While traveling, they lose their way and stumble upon a broken-down hut in a barren field. Inside lives an eerie old woman whose eyes glint with malevolence. She offers them shelter for the night.
At midnight, the old woman suddenly jumps on Khoma’s back — and to his horror, **she begins to fly**, carrying him through forests, swamps, and graveyards. She’s no ordinary woman. She’s a **witch**.
At dawn, her powers weaken. Khoma fights back, escapes her grip, and savagely beats her with a stick. But in that terrifying moment… she transforms into a **beautiful young woman**
Shaken and frightened, Khoma flees.
But the nightmare has only just begun.
Days later, a nobleman arrives at the seminary, demanding Khoma’s presence. His daughter is dying, but before she passes, she whispers Khoma’s name and insists that **he alone** perform her death prayers.
Under pressure, Khoma is taken to a distant village — silent and grim. The girl’s body lies inside an ancient, rotting church. He is told:
**“You must pray beside her body for three nights.”**

Khoma draws a **sacred circle** around himself — a mystical barrier. As the night falls, the girl’s corpse begins to move. Her eyes open slowly. She tries to rise…
But she cannot cross the circle.

The corpse begins to float. It creeps along walls, dangles from the ceiling, and attempts to claw her way in. Black mist seeps through cracks and windows. Yet, the circle holds strong.

Through the church doors enters a **massive, grotesque creature** — **Viy**, demon of the underworld, whose very eyes **destroy all that they see**. His eyelids are so heavy that spirits must lift them for him.

Khoma tries to run.
But he stumbles.
