🔥 Ashes of Leviticus: The Covenant of Moloch
A Psychological Horror Novel

Chapter 1: The City of Ashes
The desert is not always silent.
Sometimes its silence is louder than a scream.
On the western edge of Rajasthan, where the sand turns black at night and burns the eyes by day, an excavation site stood isolated beneath a vast, empty sky. In the official reports, it was labeled Site-47B. The locals called it only one thing — Agni Kund.
Dr. Aarav Malhotra did not believe in names.
He believed in history.
In stratigraphy.
In empirical evidence buried beneath layers of soil.
But that evening, as the sun dipped low and the sky turned blood-orange, he felt for the first time that some names explain themselves.
“Sir, you need to see this.”
It was Nikhil, the team’s junior researcher.
As the sand was cleared away, a circular stone structure emerged. The stones were scorched. Black. Smooth. As if they had been fired in a kiln centuries ago.
Aarav crouched and touched the surface.
Cold.
Yet something half-buried at the center altered the air around him.
Bronze.
A massive metallic face.
A bull.
Curved horns. Hollow eye sockets. A gaping mouth — wide enough to hold darkness itself.
“It could be a deity statue,” Nikhil whispered.
Aarav said nothing.
He had studied ancient civilizations his entire academic life — Canaanite cultures, Phoenician rituals, the early societies of the Levant.
And suddenly, one name surfaced in his mind.
He dismissed the thought immediately.
“Don’t speculate,” he told himself. “Analyze.”
But sometimes evidence arrives before certainty.
By nightfall, an unnatural stillness settled over the desert excavation site.
Normally, the desert breathes. Wind pulls at tent ropes. Sand shifts.
That night, the wind stopped.
As if something had silenced it.
Inside his tent, Aarav studied a manuscript he had obtained from a private collection in Jerusalem — a partial translation of an ancient copy of Leviticus.
The edges of the pages were burned.
His eyes stopped at a single line:
“And thou shalt not let any of thy seed pass through the fire to Molech…”
He whispered the meaning to himself.
A prohibition written thousands of years ago.
And outside his tent sat a scorched circular altar in the middle of the desert.
Coincidence?
Or recurrence?
Then he heard it.
A faint sound.
Like a foot dragging across ash.
Aarav unzipped the tent.
Darkness pressed heavily against the camp. The moon hid behind clouds.
He switched on his flashlight.
The beam struck the circular structure.
The ash layer shimmered faintly.
“That’s impossible,” he murmured.
The site had cooled hours ago.
Yet now, a thin ribbon of smoke curled upward.
No flame.
Still — smoke.
Behind him, Nikhil’s voice trembled.
“Sir… you see that too?”
“Yes.”
“Gas release, maybe?”
“Maybe.”
But he did not believe it.
The smoke thickened for a moment.
Then stopped.
Silence returned.
And then—
A sound.
Too faint to form words.
As if someone were whispering in an ancient tongue.
“Did you hear that?” Nikhil asked.
Aarav didn’t respond.
His eyes were fixed on the bronze bull’s face.
For a second—
He thought the hollow sockets glowed red.
The flashlight flickered.
He refocused.
Nothing.
Only darkness.
But his palms were damp with sweat.
That night, for the first time, Aarav felt he was not standing at an archaeological site.
He was standing inside a warning.
The commandment written in Leviticus —
Was it symbolic?
Or was it written for something real?
The desert wind returned.
But now it carried the scent of ash.
And somewhere far away—
Very far—
There came a faint metallic knock.
As if something inside the bronze was trying to get out.
Aarav looked at the bull’s mouth one last time.
It seemed—
Slightly wider.

Part 2 – The Call of Fire
(From the Novel: “The Covenant of Moloch: Echoes from Leviticus”)
Writer: Reax Accer
The night was not as quiet as it seemed.
There was a faint smell of ash in the air — as if somewhere in the distance, an ancient altar had been lit again. Eliza’s fingers were still trembling. The symbol she had seen in the church basement continued to burn behind her eyes.
That symbol…
An open mouth.
Formed of fire.
And inside it… a shadow.
“It’s just a myth…” she whispered to herself.
But her heart knew — that was a lie.
The Warning of Leviticus 18:21
The old book Father Michael showed her that night was not an ordinary Bible.
Its edges were scorched.
Several pages were torn out.
And the verse Leviticus 18:21 was circled in thick black ink.
“You shall not let any of your children pass through the fire…”
Father Michael’s voice still echoed in her mind.
“People think this is history. But history never dies… it waits.”
A City Under Changing Skies
The next day, the town felt different.
People acted normal —
Shops were open —
Children were playing at school —
But every face seemed turned toward something unseen.
By evening, the sky turned red.
Not a normal sunset —
But a red so deep it looked as if the heavens themselves had become a massive altar.
And then it happened.
An old factory on the outskirts of town caught fire.
But the flames were wrong —
They didn’t rise upward.
They twisted.
As if searching.
The Name in the Flames
That night, Eliza dreamed.
She stood before a massive stone statue.
Its face was like a bull’s.
Its eyes were hollow.
Yet embers glowed deep within them.
She heard a voice —
Not spoken in any language…
And yet she understood.
“Speak the name…”
Her lips moved on their own.
“Mo… lo… ch…”
The moment the name was complete, the statue’s eyes erupted in flame.
The ground trembled.
And the statue’s mouth opened.
Inside…
There was no darkness.
Inside — was the city.
Her city.
And the people…
They were slowly walking toward that mouth.
Not Blood — A Covenant
Eliza jolted awake with a scream.
On her palm was a red mark —
A triangle within a circle.
The same symbol.
This was not a dream.
It was a calling.
Moloch does not ask only for sacrifice.
He demands a Covenant.
And perhaps —
The city had already accepted it.
