Dr. **Louis Creed** moves from Boston to the quiet town of **Ludlow, Maine**, with his wife **Rachel**, daughter **Ellie**, baby son **Gage**, and their pet cat **Church**. Their new house is surrounded by greenery, with a long, busy road in front, frequently used by fast-moving trucks.

Soon, they meet their neighbor, an elderly man named **Jud Crandall** — a kind, experienced man who quickly becomes a family friend.

### **First Glimpse of the Pet Sematary**

One day, Jud takes the Creed family through the woods behind their house. There, they discover an old, handmade graveyard surrounded by wooden planks with a misspelled sign: **“Pet Sematary.”**

It’s a place where children from the area have buried their deceased pets for generations. Ellie is fascinated by it, but Rachel feels uneasy — she avoids the topic of death due to the trauma of losing her sister **Zelda** during childhood.

### **First Sign: The Cat’s Death and Return**

Not long after, Ellie’s cat **Church** is hit by a speeding truck and dies. At the time, Rachel and the kids are away visiting family, leaving Louis alone. He’s deeply troubled — unsure how to break the news to Ellie.

That’s when Jud tells Louis about something deeper — beyond the Pet Sematary lies a **mysterious Micmac Indian burial ground**. Jud leads Louis there and instructs him to bury Church — **without asking questions.**

The next morning, Church returns… but **he’s not the same**. He smells rotten, behaves aggressively, and his eyes seem lifeless. He is no longer the gentle pet they knew.

Gage creeps into **Jud Crandall’s house** and **butchers him** with a surgical scalpel.

Then, he waits for **Rachel**, who returns home out of worry for Louis.

She, too, meets a **horrifying death** at the hands of her own son.

### **Final Confrontation: Louis vs. Gage**

Louis, devastated and enraged, loads his medical kit with **morphine and syringes**. When he returns home, he finds Jud and Rachel’s mutilated bodies.

Then, he sees **Gage**, smiling eerily.

With tears in his eyes, Louis injects him with **a lethal dose of morphine**.

Gage collapses.

Dead.

Again.
